All members of The Neapolitan Mastiff Club by nature of belonging to the club agree to abide by our Code of Conduct, rules as well as our Code of Ethics as a condition of membership.
- All breeders who belong to the club and who register their pups with the KC must abide by the KC code of conduct at all times, along with the club’s code of ethics and conduct.
- All members accept the objects of the breed club, support it and actively seek to promote the breed in a good & positive light at all times.
- The welfare of the Neapolitan Mastiff must always be put first by a breeder or owner, for the whole of the dog’s life.
- A breeder of Neapolitan Mastiffs must have in place a lifetime support policy in place for all their off spring. They should also take on the responsibility of taking back or assist with the re-homing a dog bred by them, if or when required.
- An excellent standard of behaviour is expected by all club members, especially so in public places, such as shows or general dog meetings. No member should actively seek to discredit another member in a public place.
- Dog shows by nature are competitive events, exhibitors have paid a fee to hear the comments of a said judge, they must in all circumstances accept the judge’s placings with good grace and sportsmanship at every event. Any communication with a judge must be done after the show has finished and must be done in a polite and professional manner.
- The proper channel of complaints at a dog show is always direct to the show secretary on the day. A complaint must be recorded in an incident book. If a claimant wishes to process their complaint to the KC a fee has to be paid to the secretary at the time of completing the incident book.
- Personal insults, abusive or aggressive behaviour resulting in harassment, whether it be in person or on social media will not be tolerated in club members including committee members and officers of the club.
- Think before you post a negative post on social media, against the club or a judge, or a fellow exhibitor or club member. There is no such thing as a “private” post or message. Search engines can find posts indefinitely, screen shots can be taken of so-called private messages. Do not allude to any aspect of your breed club that is not fact or cannot be substantiated.
- You are responsible for your post on your own site as well as the sites of others, even if you feel others have coerced or encouraged you. Individual bloggers have been held liable for commentary deemed to be copyright infringement, defamatory, proprietary, libellous, or obscene (as defined by the courts). Be sure that what you post today will not come back to haunt you.
- A complaints produce is in place which if upheld, could result in a member being cautioned and/or removal from committee and ultimately membership. However, complaints will only be accepted in writing, signed and sent by registered post to the club Secretary. Only substantiated facts (not personal thoughts or rumours) can be put to the general committee at the next available committee meeting. As per KC rules the complainant does not have to be advised of any outcome the committee decides upon.
- Ultimately healthy constructive discussion is the order of the day. Be respectful of your fellow club member and fellow exhibitor as well as the general public.
